My name is Adam, I am 6 years old and in first grade. I have been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since I was 2 ½ years old and moved here from Canada. I have never missed a session! I began swimming as an infant when my Mommy discovered it was the only thing that made my crying from colic stop! I have had so many wonderful teachers including Ms. Gigi, Mr. Mike, Ms. Deborah and a special favorite Ms. Ashley. My favorite stroke is back crawl and my favorite thing to do at Charlotte Aquatics is to swing off the rope. When I’m not swimming I enjoy playing soccer and golf. I love playing trains with my little brother Colin and taking trips with my family.
Parent’s Note: My husband and I are so grateful to Charlotte Aquatics for teaching our boys to “swim like a fish” but also to encourage them of what they are capable of achieving! With a busy after school schedule I often told Adam he could take a “break” from swimming but he never wanted to….he was determine to get his trophy! When Ms. Gigi handed him his trophy his little hands were trembling, he was so excited. Thank You
My name is Arnav. I am in 2nd grade and I’m seven years old. Other than swimming, I enjoy tennis and playing the piano. I also like playing with my sister. My favorite stroke is front crawl because it is very easy for me. I love my teacher, Mr. Mike because he is very funny. I was so excited to get my trophy from him! It felt great!!! It was something I was looking forward to. Now my mom has signed me up for the Healthy Fish program. I love swimming!!
Parent’s Note: Over the course of the last three years at Charlotte aquatics, we have had several teachers but the one name that stands out is of course Mr. Mike! Thank you sir for helping Arnav become the confident and strong swimmer that he is today with a lot of giggles and some tears along the way. With both my children there, the end of the road didn’t seem in sight but finally one down! One to go!
Camryn is a kindergartner and has been taking lessons at Charlotte Aquatics since she was 6 months old. So essentially, she has worked on her “first trophy” since she was a baby. Camryn loves to swim and has had many special teachers at Charlotte Aquatics-Gigi has been Camryn’s standout teacher for her enthusiasm and ability to push Camryn to try harder all the while making swimming fun. Camryn was one of the youngest to participate in our club’s swim team this summer. She couldn’t understand why she as a “guppie” only got to swim 1 stroke when she knew all the strokes.
Camryn is a big sister to Hannah, who also has been in lessons at Charlotte Aquatics since she was 6 months old. In addition to swimming, Camryn loves play dates, arts and crafts, dance, gymnastics and soccer. Camryn is bilingual, speaking Spanish as well as English, and she is working on reading too-we laugh that Camryn can safely swim and even compete before she can read.
Parent’s Note: As a family, we have emphasized swimming for multiple reasons. The first reason is safety; drowning is a leading cause of death in children less then 5 years old. Other reasons include physical fitness and building confidence and self-esteem. When we were researching our options we truly felt that Charlotte Aquatics goals were in-line with our needs and looking back we wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for making both my little girls safe, confident, and competent swimmers!
Claire is a fourth grader at Saint Ann Catholic School. She plays the trombone in the school band and loves to jump rope and play tag at recess. After school, Claire looks forward to swim lessons at Charlotte Aquatics where she can laugh at Coach Mike’s jokes and jump in the water from the rope swing. Swimming keeps Claire active and healthy. She enjoys practicing free style the best while butterfly is a close second. Claire is thankful to have learned to swim from great coaches and have met nice friends.
My name is Isabel. When I am not swimming I do homework and practice piano. My best swimming memory is when I perfected my breaststroke. It is now my favorite stroke. I like how fun the classes are at Charlotte Aquatics and my best memory is when I found out I would graduate level 6. I can now swim properly and feel safer in the water.
Jack is an awesome six years old who is so proud of passing level 6! Two years ago, he saw two boys graduate and earn their trophy; from that moment, Jack knew he wanted to work hard and earn a trophy of his own. His determination has paid off! Swimming has been his favorite activity with the breaststroke as his favorite stroke. He loves the teachers at Charlotte Aquatics and jumping from the rope swing. When he’s not swimming, Jack loves to build Legos and play with his Pokemon cards, practice the guitar and piano, and use his great imagination when he reads and plays with his toys. He is a caring boy who watches out for others and wants to make people happy. Jack is excited to start swim team this fall and continue his love of swimming!
Parent’s Note: Jack’s journey has been amazing to witness, moving from trepidation to joyfully jumping in off the rope swing. The teachers and staff at Charlotte Aquatics have been supportive, encouraging, challenging at the right time, and trustworthy. Jack wanted to persevere and they gave him the tools to do so. He has confidence in himself – both in and out of the pool – and much of that can be attributed to his career at CA. We are beyond proud of his accomplishment and grateful to CA for creating such a great place for our son to grow, learn and succeed. Thank you!
My name is Jamie and I am 7 years old. I am a second grader at St. Ann Catholic School. I love swimming and also enjoy dancing, playing piano and readings books. My best memory of swimming is when I was able to swim butterfly stroke, especially thanks to Mr. Mike for making that happen 🙂 One of my favorite strokes is the breaststroke because I can swim it the fastest. I keep all my swimming patches in my memory book together with all my ribbons I have earned from my swimming team. I love swimming because I am able to spend a lot of fun time with friends and family. Thanks to all my teachers for their love and hard work to help me complete all of my levels and ” I love my trophy “!!!
Parent’s Note: We are so happy and so proud of Jamie for all her hard work in the past two years. Many thanks to Charlotte Aquatic and to all her teachers who have helped our child learn a valuable life skill, given her independence in the water and gain more confidence and self-belief in herself to be able to reach a long-term goal. You’re all the best!!!!
My name is Jordan and I am in 6th grade. When I’m not swimming, I like to draw and play tennis. My best swimming memory is meeting Mr. Mike. My favorite stroke is breaststroke. Swimming has made me confident to be in water of any depth. All my patches from passing each swim level, are in my house waiting to be put in a case by my parents. What I like about Charlotte Aquatics most are the teachers.
My name is Justin and I am a first grader at Sugar Creek Elementary School. I started my swimming class at 4 years old and now I am over 6. Graduating Level 6 can be considered my first big accomplishment so far. When I am not swimming, I like music and I play piano almost every day. My best swimming memory is that I did not pass Level 4 during assessment week. But at my last class of that session, Mr. Mike told me that I have made great progress since then and he thought that I am ready for Level 5. I love swimming. I will continue to practice and compete by attending one swim team at Fort Mill.
Parent’s Note: It has been a great journey for our son during the last two years. We thank all the coaches at Charlotte Aquatics for helping him to finish this journey successfully. At Charlotte Aquatics, he enjoyed the joy of passing each level. At the same time, he also learned that he has to work hard to be a champion. We believe that he will benefit from this in the future of his life. Thanks, Charlotte Aquatics!
My name is Kruti. I am nine years old and a Fourth grader at Newtown Elementary. I love to read to and draw. My best memory is Mr. Mike giving me my level 6 Trophy. I have saved my patches and certificates in my treasure box. My favorite stroke is Breaststroke. Swimming has changed my life, as I am no longer afraid of water and learned how to stay safe in water, and save others when they are drowning. I like my teachers; they are very
and very patient, especially Mr. Mike. Overall I love Charlotte Aquatics – it’s the best place to learn swimming.
Parent’s Note: The teachers are awesome at Charlotte Aquatics! We like the flexibility and timings.
My name is Landen. I am in second grade and I attend Socrates Academy. At home, I like to play Minecraft and play with my sister and cousins. I love the summertime because I can swim often as an exercise. My best Charlotte Aquatics memory is when I first used the rope and the breaststroke is my favorite stroke. In addition to swimming, I also practice Tae Kwon Do and play soccer. I was very happy to receive my trophy. I worked really hard for it. I am looking forward to doing the competitive tune-up class so that I can get ready for my neighborhood’s swim team.
Parent’s Note: As parents, we are proud of Landen’s swim progress over the years. We brought him to you as a ‘floater and bubble blower’ and the Charlotte Aquatic’s staff has guided him to flourish into a swimmer. Thank you for your time, patience and commitment!
My name is Logan and I am 8 years old. I am in 3rd Grade at Smithfield Elementary. My Mom and Dad started me in swim classes at Charlotte Aquatics when I was a toddler. When I am not swimming I am taking dance and guitar lessons. I also love hanging out with my family and playing with my friends. My hobbies are cooking, baking, making art and being creative. I have a dog and I love animals.
My best swimming memory is going to Carowinds waterpark for the first time this year. I loved the water slides! I also have so much fun swimming at the beach house pool every summer on our yearly family trip. We stay in the pool the whole week! My favorite swim stroke is the Butterfly and I also like diving. Anytime I get a chance to go swimming I get so excited!
My name is Mahi. I am 8 years old and am in 3rd grade at Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy (MRSA). My favorite strokes are front crawl and butterfly. Charlotte Aquatics helps me stay fit and specifically helped me complete my first triathlon this summer. My first memory is when I got my certificate for completing level 3 as I felt very happy to get appreciation for my hard work. I put all the pictures and patches in an album. When I am not swimming, I like to read books, do arts, eat variety of foods and play with my family and friends.
Mary Katherine loves to swim and especially at Charlotte Aquatics! Her favorite strokes are front crawl and breaststroke. Her favorite thing about Charlotte Aquatics is that Ms. Gigi taught her to properly swim all her strokes, to dive and to do a flip turn – she cannot wait to show these off at swim team! Her favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is her first time doing the rope swing, it was so much fun! When she is not swimming, Mary Katherine enjoys cheer leading, playing basketball and jumping on her trampoline. Swimming has helped Mary Katherine to gain confidence in herself and to learn hard work and determination pays off. She worked hard to properly learn all her strokes and is very proud of herself. Her favorite memory of all was jumping from the very top of her Granddaddy’s dock and doing the aqua-duck slide on the Disney Cruise.
Parent’s Note: Mary Katherine went into class already knowing how to swim but wanted to learn all her strokes for swim team. Ms. Gigi was excellent with Mary Katherine, really pushing her to correctly use her arms and legs in each stroke. Mary Katherine has loved coming to swim class each week. We are very excited to continue her lessons with Charlotte Aquatics as an Elite Fish!
My name is Nikhil. I am 6 years old, in 1st grade, and attend Pineville Elementary School. I love being in the water swimming. My instructors have all helped me achieve my goals at Charlotte Aquatics. If it weren’t for Mr. Grant, Ms. Kathryn, Ms. Gigi and everyone at Charlotte Aquatics, I would not have mastered all 10 skills required to pass level 6. My favorite stroke is the front crawl, but I have most fun swimming like a dolphin.
Parent’s Note: Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for teaching Nikhil. We are very proud of him. We are amazed of how much Nikhil has learned and developed. Thank you so much for an outstanding and rewarding experience at Charlotte Aquatics. We look forward to many more.

My most favorite thing about Charlotte Aquatics is that all of the teachers are so nice. I feel so glad that I know how to swim!!!
Parent’s Note: It has been wonderful 4 years @ Charlotte Aquatics. We don’t know how to thank you enough for supporting her and helping her.
My name is Summer and I am 10 years old. I attend Ballantyne Elementary. When I am not swimming, I love learning and I spend a lot of time reading and writing. Also, I love basketball and have been playing for 3 years now. I was so proud when I learned how to do the breaststroke. I am dedicated, focused and committed to learning. My mom has saved all of my patches for me. Swimming has changed my life because it has exposed me to another sport and I realize that I am a really good swimmer and now I want to continue perfecting my stroke and eventually swim competitively.
