My name is Akul and I’m 8 years old. I like swimming and going to pool with my parents and friends. I also like to play football, soccer and cricket with my friends in the neighborhood. I learned swimming at Charlotte Aquatics and now I can swim like a fish. I am not afraid of jumping into pool anymore and I have lots of fun at beach. I love to swim under water in pool and trick my dad. My favorite stroke is the breaststroke and my favorite memory is when Mr. Mike asked me to demonstrate breaststroke to my friend in our group. The best thing about Charlotte Aquatics is the instructors, they are very friendly but they are strict and particular about learning and picking up the skills to be a good swimmer. I also started joining swimming races in summer and I am thankful to my swimming teachers to help me make a good swimmer.
Parent’s Note: We feel very proud when we see Akul is swimming confidently and not scared of jumping into water. We are very thankful to Charlotte Aquatics instructors and staff for being his partners in learning swimming. They all have been so patient and encouraging towards Akul. It has been a long and persevering journey for him but we are so proud and excited that he made it all the way through and mastered all the strokes. Finally, we’ll have a certified swimmer in our family…cheers to that!!!
My name is Bradley and I recently turned 7. I am a rising first grader at Charlotte Latin School. I’ve been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since I was 1 year old. I have met a ton of wonderful people at Charlotte Aquatics over the years, some of my favorites being Miss Cara, Coach Gigi, Coach Kathryn, Coach JD, and Coach Edgar. My favorite stroke used to be just front crawl but now I like front crawl and butterfly. My favorite thing to do at Charlotte Aquatics is to do a front flip and then swim 4 strokes and do another front flip. One of my favorite memories from Charlotte Aquatics is when the pool was transformed into “Frozen” and there were snowflakes everywhere! I keep my patches on the bulletin board in my kitchen. When I am not swimming, I like to do gymnastics, ride my bike, kayak at the lake, do arts & crafts, and play with my dog Jupiter.
Parents Note: Bradley was born early and swimming was something that really helped him meet developmental milestones. It didn’t come naturally to him—he worked hard at it over the years to complete Level 6 and we are so proud of him! The coaches and support staff at Charlotte Aquatics have always made us feel like Bradley was truly “known” and they worked to insure he had a positive experience. They were willing to make accommodations to meet his needs and were understanding when he didn’t pass through the levels as quickly as other students. As parents we love seeing Bradley have fun in the water both during lessons and at our neighborhood pool and most recently boogie boarding in the ocean! A HUGE thank you to Charlotte Aquatics for loving our family all these years!
My name is Brady, I am 6 years old and will be starting 1st Grade in the Fall. I started lessons at Charlotte Aquatics when I was 3 years old. I am so excited to have finally completed Level VI and received the trophy that I worked so hard to earn! My favorite stroke is the backstroke – I love pushing off the wall backwards and moving my arms really fast! My Mommy and Daddy sometimes ask me if I am going to be just like Ryan Murphy or Aaron Peirsol. I’ve had so much fun at Charlotte Aquatics making friends and learning all my strokes. Swimming has changed my life because now I can go down the big water slides at the YMCA and other places! My favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics is when Coach Gigi gave me my trophy. We saved all of my patches and will be putting them in a frame next to my trophy. In addition to swimming, I love basketball, soccer, golf and watching American Ninja Warrior.
Parent’s Note: This has been a great journey that has taught Brady to work hard to achieve his goals. Charlotte Aquatics is a special place with a great family environment. Thank you for all you have done and for helping to pave the way for a lifetime of swimming for Brady. Special thanks to Coach Gigi for guiding and pushing when needed!
My name is Ishita, I am 9 years old and in 4th grade. I joined Charlotte Aquatics last summer (July 2016) in level 2A and cleared level 6 in a time span of 10 months. When I am not swimming I watch TV, do craft activities, play with my friends and my brother Jay. My best swimming memory was when one of my teacher told me that I did best in my class. I kept all my patches in my memory folder. I love breaststroke. Swimming makes my summer vacation more fun. It made me more confident to go to 5 feet and do a handstand inside water. I like all my teachers at Charlotte Aquatics. I also like to jump from rope in the pool. My favorite memory of Charlotte aquatics is when I got my level 6 trophy. I am so happy that I am now going to learn competitive swimming. Thank you Charlotte Aquatics !!!
Parent’s Note: We are so proud of Ishita achieving highest level quickly. We are thankful to all her teachers especially Ms. Kathryn and Ms. Deborah. We believe that swimming is not only a sport but is also a lifesaver. Ishita enjoys water fun since she was very small but at Charlotte Aquatics she learned fundamentals. We believe that “To Swim Is To Be Able To Explore 71% Of Earth Which Is Covered Underwater :)”. Yes, swimming in a way is a way of life too !!!
Nikhil is going into 4th grade, and is so proud of his Level Six achievement! He’s been attending Charlotte Aquatics since he was five years old. Initially, Nikhil wasn’t thrilled about swimming, and was nervous about going into the water. But the coaches at Charlotte Aquatics helped him get over his fear and he now loves spending time in the pool! His favorite stroke is free style. When he’s not swimming, Nikhil enjoys basketball and playing with his sister.
Parent’s Note: We are extremely thankful for the teachers and staff at Charlotte Aquatics- they are such a pleasure to work with! They are very flexible, and ensure that they address each child’s individual needs. We are so grateful for our Charlotte aquatics family! Thank you!
