My name is Ashley. I was born in Charlotte and am eight years old. Both of my parents are first generation immigrants from China. I have been visiting China since 2 years old. I can speak both English and Mandarin Chinese fluently and have been learning Spanish at the Providence Day School since 2014.
My favorite stroke is breaststroke. Swimming changed my life by giving me a favorite sport to enjoy. My favorite memory in Charlotte Aquatics is learning from my teachers, Ms. Katherine, Ms. Lizzy and Mr. Mike. I hope all other learners will soon graduate and win the trophy.
I enjoy playing soccer, tennis, surfing and rock climbing while not swimming. I also would like to spend time on reading, cooking, knitting, sewing, playing piano and doing scientific experiments. I am always excited to pack my luggage and set off to visit other places. Besides China, I have been to Caribbean countries, including Mexico, Haiti, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. Within the United States, I have been in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, Michigan, Maryland, Washington D.C and Puerto Rico.
Hi, My name is Emersyn and I’m 7 years old. I’m in second grade at River Gate Elementary and have been taking lessons at Charlotte Aquatics since I was a baby! When I’m not swimming I like to play soccer and go shopping. My favorite stroke I have learned is the backstroke and my favorite thing to do in lessons is swing on the rope! This summer I was able to swim in the lake from the floating dock to the shore and that was fun! My favorite memory of being at Charlotte Aquatics is Mr. Mike doing all the silly voices to make us laugh! Thank you for teaching me to be such a good swimmer!
My name is Harrison. I am 6 years old and I just started Kindergarten at Providence Spring Elementary! I love swimming, soccer, tennis, golf and playing with my brother and my friends. My favorite stroke is front crawl because “I can go fast.” I like that I can swim in the ocean now and I no longer must wear a float. What I will remember the most from Charlotte Aquatics is all the fun I had doing the rope swing after each lesson and I always liked the slide when I was little. My favorite memory is earning my level 6 trophy!!
Parent Note: We have been very pleased with the successes of both of our children in learning to swim. We love that they enjoy swimming and feel confident around water. We appreciate all the hard work and patience from every instructor that both of our children encountered along their journey. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Charlotte Aquatics and without a doubt will highly recommended your team to other children and families. We cannot stress the importance of teaching a child how to swim. Such a special place with a great family environment!
My name is Jack and I’m 8 years old. My favorite stroke is the breaststroke. The best part about Charlotte Aquatics was my teachers, especially Ms. Gigi. My favorite memory was when I got my trophy for finishing all the levels from Ms. Gigi. When I’m not swimming I’m playing baseball or basketball or at Cub Scouts.
My name is Minerva and I am seven years old. I am in second grade at Charlotte Country Day School. Besides swimming, I love to read and collect Shopkins! I also like to watch Goldie and Bear with my little brother, Neal. My parents have saved all my patches in a box labeled “Collectables”. Miss Mary is my favorite teacher and my fondest memory is when she told me after a swim class, “Minerva, you are my hardest worker!” Even though I have graduated, I will come to Charlotte Aquatics every week to watch Neal swim.
Parent Note: Minerva joined Charlotte Aquatics when she was 3 and has worked hard at every stage. It is a delight to watch her swim and play with her brother in the pool. We are very proud of her.
Renee is 7 year old middle child who loves all things dramatic, artistic and creative. A true nature lover, she loves to climb trees, do cartwheels, draw, paint, create and curl up with a big stack of books. Her favorite toys are her dolls and stuffed animals. She wants to be a preschool teacher when she’s older.
Renee has been attending swimming classes at Charlotte Aquatics since she was 3 years old. At first she was frightened, but swimming lessons changed her fear of the water into pure enjoyment and even competing on a swim team. In her preschool class, Renee asked that “no one clap” (no applause needed!) when she learned to jump into the pool and float unassisted. Now her favorite swim stroke is the butterfly and she enjoys diving and swimming under water. Her favorite learning memory is safety week where she learned to throw a life preserver to someone in need and swim with her clothes on. She also loved Halloween week where she swam with a real pumpkin that floats! She has collected her certificates, pictures, and swim patches in a scrapbook.
Parent Note: Swimming at Charlotte Aquatics has been a family affair with 3 in lessons from Toddler parent classes to Elite Fish. We have learned so much about water safety and enjoyed fairly consistent weekly swim classes for over 4 years. So many of the instructors have been an encouragement. We are so proud of Renee and her brothers and especially proud that she worked hard to perfect the breaststroke and pass level 6. Renee kept her eye on that trophy and enjoyed celebrating with 3 of her coaches and her family.
My name is Riley and I’m 7 years old. I’m in 2nd grade. When I’m not swimming, I like to play with my brother Coen and with friends, do crafts, and play on my Kindle. My favorite Charlotte Aquatics memory was getting my trophy from Ms Gigi when I passed level 6 after many years of hard work. I’ve been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since I was about 8 months old. My favorite strokes are front crawl and breaststroke. I love all the instructors at Charlotte Aquatics as they’re all very nice and helpful. Now that I know how to swim, my parents let me swim in the deep end by myself as long as they’re watching!
Parent Note: We’ve had a great experience with Charlotte Aquatics and with the many different instructors that both our kids have had. We’ll continue to be a part of Charlotte Aquatics until our son also passes level 6! Thank you so much!
