My name is Anna and I am a 6 year old first grader. I have been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since I was 6 months old. When not swimming, I enjoy dance, baseball, and playing with my little brother. I have been so lucky to have a lot of great teachers but remember swimming with Ms Gigi when I was little and graduating with Deborah. My favorite stroke is the back stroke because I go fast but I also love butterfly!
Parent Note: We have been so happy to have both of our children learn to swim with Charlotte Aquatics. We have a pool in our back yard so had our kids started swim lessons at a young age for both safety and fun! We are so proud of seeing Anna’s confidence grow in the pool – whether it be getting faster and more proficient in strokes or swimming to the bottom of the deep end in our pool to get diving sticks. Thank you!!
My name is Emily and I am 6 years old. I am in first grade and I can speak English and Spanish fluently. I go to Perú every year to visit my abuelitos, family and friends. When I am not swimming, I enjoy dancing, singing, reading, playing with my dolls, running with my dog Pablo and playing golf. My best memory in Charlotte Aquatics is Safety Week where I learned to throw a life preserver to save a person from drowning. From all the strokes I have learned my favorite is breaststroke. After each lesson I like swinging on the rope. Now that I have all my patches, my mom and I will put them together in a frame and hang them on the wall besides my trophies. I love diving and swimming under water. Learning how to swim changed my life because now I can get in deeper water and in the ocean. Now I can Swim Like a Fish!! I love Swimming!!!!
Parent Note: We have such a wonderful experience at Charlotte Aquatics, the coaches are friendly and caring inside and outside the pool. I always feel that they have the best interest in the kids. Over the years, Emily has not only learned to swim, but she has learned a lot about safety around the water.
My name is Lillie and I am 8 years old. When I am not swimming, I like to do crafts, paint, draw, and play with my dog Lucie. I also play the violin. My favorite stroke is backstroke. I was very excited to get my first trophy from Charlotte Aquatics for passing level 6. Mr. Mike is the best instructor and I will always remember how funny he is.
Parent Note: Lillie has been taking lessons off and on since she was about 2 at Charlotte Aquatics. She didn’t like the water at first, but she persevered along with her instructors to become a great swimmer. We will always be grateful to the instructors at Charlotte Aquatics for helping Lillie overcome her fears and be the best swimmer in the family!
My name is Reagan, and I am 8 years old and in third grade. Swimming is my favorite sport, and I like going to Charlotte Aquatics to learn and perfect my strokes. Freestyle is my favorite stroke because it’s easiest for me. I was proud of myself for sticking with swimming and getting my trophy. When I’m not swimming, I like to dance or read. I also like music and am learning to play the piano.
My name is Rohin. I am 10 years. I was born in New Jersey. I have a younger brother who is 7 years old. We moved to Charlotte from NJ when I was 3 years old. Although I did not like the move initially, I fell in love with Carolinas almost immediately. Both of my parents are first generation immigrants from India. I visit India every year to spend time with my grandparents who are so fun to hang out with. I love visiting places and would like to capture pictures of all the state capitol buildings and all NFL stadiums in US. So far, I visited 30 states and been to 14 NFL stadiums. Besides US and India, I have been to other countries like Bahamas, Costa Rica and Canada.
I love swimming and when I do not swim, I like to play Football, Basketball and Frisbee with my brother and friends in the neighborhood. My favorite stroke is breaststroke. Swimming helped me build confidence to get better and achieve anything with practice. I still remember my initial classes at Charlotte Aquatics when I was not able to float in water but the coaches helped me build confidence and technique to get better. Now, when I see myself passing level 6, this was only possible because of practice, persistence and nice coaching tips from my coaches (Ms. Gigi, Mr. Mike, Ms. Deborah) at Charlotte Aquatics. I would like to thank my coaches and would like to encourage everyone to take swimming lessons because it’s no longer just a fun sport – swimming helps save lives!
