Amelia started swimming when she was 18months old and has loved being in the water every since. She truly loves to “swim like a fish”. Amelia says today, that breaststroke is her favorite, and learning to dive with Gigi was her favorite memory. When Amelia is not swimming she is riding her bike, playing with her friends, or learning something new.
Being a part of the Charlotte Aquatics family has given us the confidence to know that when Amelia is near water she knows how to swim and safety that goes into being around any body of water.
Parent’s Note: What we love most about Charlotte Aquatics is the staff and the sense of security they build in each and every child in the pool.
My name is Andrew. I am 8yrs old and a 3rd grader at Socrates Academy. I like to play Minecraft with my brother and I also play basketball. I have been swimming with Charlotte Aquatics since I was 4yrs old. My favorite strokes are the front and back crawl. My mom has a collection of all my patches along with the pictures in my photo album so I can look back on my progress. Swimming has changed my life because my mom doesn’t have to worry about me in the pool or the ocean. I want to Thank Ms. Gigi and Ms. Deborah for helping and teaching me to swim like a fish!
Camryn just turned 5 and is in pre K at Messiah Lutheran preschool. When Camryn is not swimming she likes to do gymnastics, horseback riding, get extra cuddles, and dress up like a princess. Camryn absolutely LOVES having Ms.Gigi as her teacher and is lucky enough to have her brother, Robbie, in her class to race. She enjoys practicing all the strokes and couldn’t pick a favorite. Camryn loves swim lessons at Charlotte Aquatics, especially the warm pool.
Channing is six years old and finishing up her kindergarten year at Waddell Language Academy: Chinese Immersion. She has loved learning to swim at Charlotte Aquatics! When she is not swimming she’s climbing trees, jumping on the trampoline or riding her scooter. Channing doesn’t have one favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics but remembers all the fun she had-especially with Ms. Katie! Channing’s favorite stroke is freestyle and she can’t wait to show her skills at our neighborhood’s swim team meets. Her badges are safely tucked in her memory box and her trophy is proudly displayed for all to admire by our family pictures in the entranceway.
My name is Chloe and I am 8 years old. I am just finishing 3rd grade at Barringer Academic Center. I am proud to have accomplished my goal of passing Level 6 at Charlotte Aquatics and earning a trophy! My patches and trophy are displayed in my room. They remind me of what dedication and hard work can do.
My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is passing Level 2B. That was the first time I passed a level on my first attempt. I knew it would be close but I worked hard and was able to meet all the goals of the level. Breast stroke is my favorite so I also was excited when I got far enough along to start working on that. But hands down, my absolute favorite thing at Charlotte Aquatics is swinging into the pool on the rope!
Learning to swim at Charlotte Aquatics has changed my life in two ways. First, it taught me how to work towards a long term goal and stay committed until it was reached. Second, I was able to pass the test to use the big slides at the YMCA pool. Going down the big slide for the first time last summer is an amazing memory. Thanks Charlotte Aquatics!
My name is Eesha and I am in rising 6th grade. When I’m not swimming, I like to watch Disney shows and play Soccer. My best swimming memory is meeting my teacher, Ms. Kathryn and the rope-swing into the pool at end of class. My favorite stroke is breaststroke. Swimming has made me confident to be in water of any depth. Graduating Level 6 can be considered my first big accomplishment so far. All my patches from passing each swim level are on our in house “wall of fame”. What I like about Charlotte Aquatics’ is the sincere, smiley face teachers that make swimming a fun activity.
Luke is 6 years old and just completed 1st grade at Springfield Elementary School.I n addition to swimming, Luke loves wrestling! His favorite stroke is breaststroke. His favorite thing at Charlotte Aquatics was riding in the boat for safety week. He has had a different teacher each session (since he started at level 3) but has liked each and every one of them. Luke is so excited to have completed level 6 and earned his trophy!
Parent’s Note: We are so happy we found Charlotte Aquatics. We love the focus on the strokes which we struggled to find at other swim centers since Luke already knew how to swim. Each instructor has given Luke the skills he needed to become a proficient swimmer in all strokes.
My name is Maelee and I am 6 years old. I am a rising first grader at Orchard Park Elementary. When I’m not swimming, I like to save bugs, ride my scooter or watch Coyote Peterson. My favorite swimming memory is swimming with my cousins and sisters. My mommy saved all of my swim patches in my baby book. My favorite stroke was the backstroke but now it’s the butterfly. Swimming has made me happier because I don’t have to be scared or nervous in the water. I can just have fun and swim like the big kids. My favorite things at Charlotte Aquatics are the lollipops and the rope swing. My favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics is winning races and doing good in butterfly. I will always remember Gigi telling me to “keek” (kick) and keep my head down, but most of all, how she has taught me how to do something I can do for the rest of my life.
Matthew is 7 years old and in first grade. He has been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since he was about 1 when he used to do swim lessons with Mom. He has always had a love of the water and absolutely no fear! We knew he was going to need to stick with swim lessons when he actually jumped off the diving board at our swim club when he was just two and a half years old (still in a diaper!!) He has had a bunch of wonderful teachers including Mr. Rob, Mr. Mike and Ms. Gigi. His favorite stroke is breaststroke. When he’s not swimming he enjoys playing flag football, playing with his buddies and having Nerf gun wars with his 3 sisters. He also loves to go to the mountains and the beach with his family.
My name is Tyler. I am 7 years old and I just finished up first grade. I have been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics since I was 3 years old and have worked so hard over the years to learn all the strokes and earn my trophy. I never complained about coming to lessons every week, and was determined to get my butterfly stroke down so I could pass level 6. Along with swimming, I also love playing baseball and basketball. Now I will be cheering my little sister on from the bench while she learns how to swim too.
Parent’s Note: We have been so happy with the swim program at Charlotte Aquatics. I am so glad we continued all the way through level 6 as it has given him so much confidence. We are so proud of you Tyler!!! You did it!!!
