My name is Annie, and I am 6 years old. Swimming has become a passion of mine, thanks to the superior instruction I received at Charlotte Aquatics. I am a rising first grader. When I am not swimming, I enjoy reading, doing artistic and science based projects, racing down the soccer field to score a goal, gracefully dancing ballet steps and routines, and playing with my twin brother, younger sister, family and friends. A funny swimming memory was being surprised at being dumped out of the boat during safety week lessons. My favorite swimming memory is learning and laughing with the instructors and assistants in the pool every week. I feel proud that I can swim all four strokes so well, and my favorite is the backstroke. All of my patches are in my keepsake box. I love all of the instructors at Charlotte Aquatics, especially Miss Gigi, Mr. Mike (my very first instructor), Mr. Grant and Miss Mary. The staff, instructors, and assistants always give me hugs and support and make me feel so special, especially Miss Marni, Miss Shelly, Miss Cara and Miss Stefanie. Although I have completed all of the levels, I hope to improve my skills at Charlotte Aquatics and to participate in swim team next year. Thank you for so many excellent experiences!
My name is Alonso. I am 10 years old and I am a 4th grader at Endhaven elementary. I love to swim and play in the pool. When I am not swimming I like to play soccer, basketball or play video games. My favorite stroke is breaststroke because I can swim it the fastest I also love to swim underwater. I like Charlotte Aquatics because I learned all my swimming strokes there and I also have fun swinging on the rope and all my teachers were very nice.
My best memories there were every time I pass a level and I can’t wait to get my trophy at the end of level 6.
Arthur is a rising first grader at St. Gabes. When not swimming Artie likes to play outside on his scooter with his friends and his sisters. His best swimming memory is swinging on the rope and riding in the boat. Artie’s patches are scattered through the house – he likes to play with them. Swimming has changed his life because he is able to swim all over the pool and not be afraid at such a young age. He goes off the diving board and is able to go under water and play for extended amounts of time.
My name is Caitlin and I am 7 years old. I am so happy to be passing level 6! My favorite swimming memory is when I go to the beach and swim in the waves. My favorite stroke is freestyle because I’ve been practicing it for 3 years. This summer I want to go swimming at a lake because it has so much space to swim around. When I’m not swimming, I do gymnastics and play in the gym. I love to swim at Charlotte Aquatics because I have liked it ever since the first time I took swim lessons there. In 5 years, my swimming goal is to be as fast at breast stroke as I am today at freestyle!
My name is Grady and I am a rising first grader at Providence Day School. When I am not swimming, I enjoy playing with my friends and learning to build cities in Minecraft. My best swimming memories include: going to my neighbors pool during the summer and being able to swim and dive for things at the bottom of the pool, and having my dad flip me into the water! My favorite stroke is breaststroke. Swimming has changed my life in that it has given me the tools to be safe in the water and the ability to swim anywhere! My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is swinging off the rope and doing butterfly to the other side. And what I like most about Charlotte Aquatics are the instructors! I have kept all my swimming patches in a safe place so that later my mommy will frame them!
Parent’s Note: Grady started lessons at Charlotte Aquatics when he was almost 2 years old. Obviously, it has taken some time to get to this point in his swimming ability, but it was totally worth it! Grady now has the confidence to swim and the tools necessary to be safe in the water. Charlotte Aquatics has been apart of Grady’s life for the past 4 years, and as a family it will continue to be a mainstay for our other two children as they strive to reach level 6 as well. We are so grateful for the dedication and patience that each instructor has given to teach Grady (and my other two kids) the invaluable skill of swimming! We hope that he will soon take swimming to the competitive level! Thank you so much!!
My name is Jacob and I will be going into Fourth Grade this Fall at Springfield Elementary in Fort Mill, SC. I have worked super hard to pass Level 6 and I’m really proud of myself. I started taking lessons when I was 4 in Houston, TX. I used to be so scared to put my face in the water. Shortly, after moving my mom signed me up to continue my lessons with Charlotte Aquatics. I’m so glad she did. Ms. Deborah and Ms. Wendy are amazing instructors who didn’t give up on me even when I would give up on myself. I love to swim and my favorite swim stroke is the front crawl. I love being able to show my family and friends how confident I am in the water. When I am not swimming, I love to play baseball, collect football cards, play video games and hang out with my friends.
Parent’s Note: Moving from Houston, it took a few months to get Jacob back into lessons. I decided to do so immediately after seeing him panic in the middle of the deep end at a hotel pool. After trying other organizations/facilities, a friend recommended Charlotte Aquatics and I will be forever grateful. Jacob knew the basics of swimming, but did not have the confidence. Ms. Deborah and Ms. Wendy helped build his self-esteem. Each lesson, Jacob started becoming more and more confident. For example, I will never forget the time where Jacob was tired, frustrated about a stroke he just could not get and started crying. Ms. Wendy looked at him and said… “Are you tired? Take a break… and start again when you are ready. You can do this.” She believed in him. She didn’t let him give up. I appreciate the instructors and all Charlotte Aquatic Staff for all that they do! Thank you.
Hi, my name is Kay and I am 6 years old. I am in kindergarten. When I’m not swimming, my favorite activities are doing homework and riding my bicycle. My favorite stroke is the backstroke because it makes me swim really fast. I loved learning how to swim from all of the great teachers. All of my patches are on a wall in my room. I had so much fun these past few years and can’t wait to learn more!
My name is Mackenzie and I am 6 years old, and a rising 1st grader at Covenant Day School. My favorite swimming memory is swinging on the rope and falling into the water. My favorite swimming stroke is breaststroke, because it is really hard. My favorite thing to do in the pool is cannonball flips. When I’m not swimming I like to play with my rabbit, Hop Hop, and play games with my little brother, Miller. Swimming has changed my life because I’m able to swim and do things that older kids can do, like big water slides and playing in ocean waves. What I like most about Charlotte Aquatics is the really nice teachers.
Parent’s Note: It has been such a joy watching Mackenzie grow from her first couple swim session where she would cry over putting her face in the water, to now when I can’t keep her out of the water! When she entered level 6 she panicked a the thought of being finished with swim lessons and said “I want to take swim lessons with Ms. Gigi forever!” so we are excited to move into Healthy Fish next session, and perhaps for countless sessions thereafter!
Maria is 8 years old and will be entering third grade at St. Gabriel Catholic school this fall. When she is not swimming at Charlotte Aquatics or in her pool, Maria enjoys playing basketball, playing outside with friends and reading. Maria’s favorite swimming stroke is the front crawl. She loves Charlotte Aquatics because all of the coaches are so nice.
Parent’s Note: Maria is a strong and confident swimmer thanks to the wonderful coaching she has received at Charlotte Aquatics. A wonderful experience. Thank you!
My name is Rafael and I am 7 years old. I just finished first grade at Charlotte Country Day School. When I am not swimming, I play the drums, play outside or build cool Lego stuff with my brother.
I went from not being able to swim to passing level 6 in just a short time which is so great because now I can enjoy the pool all summer long and I love the deep end! My favorite stroke is front crawl!! I keep my patches together with my trophies in my bookshelf. One of my best memories of Charlotte Aquatics was the swimming with the pumpkins 🙂 What I like most about Charlotte Aquatics? All the great teachers!
Parent’s Note: When we moved to Charlotte from Germany we quickly realized how important it will be for our kids to be able to swim as we spent the whole summer at the pool or beach and wanted our kids to be safe. I am still amazed at how quickly both of them overcame any fears they had and learned and evolved – thanks to all the great teachers they had! Thank you!
My name is Savannah and I am 7 years old. I will be going into the 2nd grade at Sugar Creek Elementary School. When I am not swimming I like to draw art and be creative. I also enjoy ballet. My favorite swim memory is going to the pool and doing handstands in the water. I also enjoy going to the lake and jumping off the back of our boat (with my life jacket of course)! My favorite stroke is the back crawl because it is the easiest. Swimming is important to me because it is good exercise, it is fun and I feel safer in the water. My favorite memories of Charlotte Aquatics are swinging on the rope off the edge of the pool and passing to the next level when I accomplished my goals! My favorite swim teachers are Miss Katie, Miss Wendy, and Miss Deborah because they are nice, helpful, and are good teachers. I was very excited to get my level 6 trophy and it made me very happy!!
Parent’s Note: Thank you Charlotte Aquatics and ALL of the great teachers for helping and pushing Savannah to become such a great swimmer! All of the strokes she has learned has given her the strength and endurance to be very confident and safe in the water. I feel swimming lessons is one of the most important survival skills you can give your child! It was amazing to watch her progress every week during the last couple of years and I will always have that memory. We look forward to having Savannah’s sister, Olivia, complete the program and become a great swimmer as well!
Sean is 8 years old and has lived all his life in Charlotte, NC. Sean loves to read, ride bikes, and ATV’s. He also unsurprisingly likes to swim in his pool. Sean also teaches his sister to swim when she lets him! Sean favorite stroke is Freestyle. Sean’s favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is jumping into the pool with his clothes on.

I am also sad because I will not be able to come back in. I have spent two years of swimming here I would say this is the best swim school ever!!!
