My name is Alvaro Mejia Jr. I am 10 years old and in 5th grade at Collinswood Language Academy. When I’m not swimming I like to ride my bike and spend time with my family. My favorite stroke is freestyle. My best memory was having fun classes with Mr. Mike. I like how nice the teachers are at Charlotte Aquatics and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Gigi. I saved most of my Patches because I would like to make a memory frame with them. Being at Charlotte Aquatics has helped me be secure when I swim. I love to be part of the students at Charlotte Aquatics because they teach me to be more confident.
Parent’s note: Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for truly teaching Alvaro to swim like a fish. We started him at a young age (2 years old) because we believed that swimming was a very important life skill and we did not want our son afraid of the water. He loved every lesson he attended. Mrs. Gigi will always hold a special place in our hearts for being so nice with Alvaro. Thank you for giving him independence in the water and instilling confidence and self-belief in him. We are so appreciative to all of the teachers and staff at Charlotte Aquatics. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
My name is Anshu and I am 9 years old. I’m a 4th grader at Hawk Ridge Elementary School. I just love to swim all day long!! Other than that I usually play outside on my bike. I like to sing and dance too. My best swimming memory is when I learned to do a flip in the water. I have safely kept all my patches along with the trophy in my room. My favorite stoke is backstroke. Swimming has made me confident in water; I always wanted to be great swimmer. My favorite thing about Charlotte Aquatics is that they teach for all ages. My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is when my teacher told me to improve on my legs in breaststroke and I did it!! I also cherish the moment when I passed level 6 and got my trophy.
Parent’s Note: My kids Anshu and Anvi started learning at Charlotte Aquatics this year, since Jan 2016. We are so glad that we started here. Both of them had attended basic swim level lessons before during summer sessions outside charlotte aquatics. Seeing Anshu’s interest in this sport, we wanted to get her private lessons. She got her private lessons for few sessions here and that gave her a nice boost to pick up the pace and now she is done with level 6. We are so happy and thankful to all the amazing staff of charlotte aquatics.
I am Arya, and I am going to be a fifth grader at Elon Park Elementary School. When I’m not swimming, I like to play soccer and playing music on my guitar. I really love hanging out with my friends and family. My best swimming memory of Charlotte Aquatics was when I was in level 2; I made people laugh with my nay nay dance. My favorite stroke is front crawl. I really enjoyed level 4 because Mr. Mike used to make jokes with acting like we were invisible. I started my lessons here with Ms. Jessica. I was afraid of water in the beginning. Charlotte Aquatics helped me gain confidence in me. In future, I might swim as a sport.
Parent’s Note: This was a wonderful moment watching Arya finish the swim program at Charlotte Aquatics. We liked all of the staff and instructors who have helped our child learn a valuable life skill, given him independence in the water, instilled confidence and self-belief in himself and reach a long-term goal. There is no price you could ever put on those lessons he will take away with him from Charlotte Aquatics. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
My name is Bayla and I am in the first grade. When I am not swimming I love to sing and play the piano. My favorite stroke is the front crawl. Swimming has changed my life because I love to be able to swim with my friends and feel safe. My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is graduating level 6! I have a picture of my self on the Olympic Podium at Charlotte Aquatics when I was two years old. This year we celebrated the Olympics again and I was able to stand on the podium with my level 6 trophy! Currently, I have all of my patches in a memory album but we are going to make a T-shirt quilt and we will add them to that. I love the people at Charlotte Aquatics!
My name is Blakeney and I’m a first grader at Myers Park Traditional School. When I’m not swimming, I enjoy practicing gymnastics and playing soccer. I really love hanging out with my family and younger sister Logan. She is so funny! My best swimming memories are with Mr. Mike and Ms. Gigi. Mr. Mike always kept me laughing and made swimming so much fun. Ms. Gigi is a great teacher. Every time I practice the breaststroke I can always hear her yelling “Down, Down, Down”. Mom and I laugh about it in the car a lot. She also threatens to have Ms. Gigi show up at my Swim Team practice to keep me goingJ! My favorite stroke is the breast. I love swimming because it is great exercise and I enjoy going to our pool with my friends in the summer. I’m sad to leave Charlotte Aquatics but thankful for all that I have learned!
Parent’s Note: Blakeney has been swimming since she was a toddler. Once we found Charlotte Aquatics we fell in love and so did Blakeney. She has thrived and gained so much confidence. She will begin swimming for the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg in September. Thank you for all that your team does to encourage the love of swimming!
My name is Christopher and I am 10 years old. I will be a fifth grader at Elon Park this fall. I have been at Charlotte Aquatics for a few years now. What I like most is swimming underwater. My Favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics is the first time I tried the rope swing. It was so fun! When I’m not swimming I enjoy playing video games, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. My best memory swimming was in the Bahamas on vacation. I got the chance to snorkel in the ocean! My favorite stroke is breaststroke because it is the most fun and easiest stroke to learn. Swimming changed me because it allowed me to do more water related activities such as snorkeling and swimming in deep water. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of these things if it weren’t for Charlotte Aquatics.
My name is Drennan, and I am 6 years old. I absolutely love to swim, thanks to the superior instruction I received at Charlotte Aquatics. I am a rising first grader. When I am not swimming, I enjoy reading, learning about computers and robotics, practicing and breaking boards at Tae Kwon Do, traveling throughout the country and playing with my twin sister, younger sister, family and friends. A funny swimming memory is when Mr. Mike counted 1 hotdog, 2 hotdogs, 3 hotdogs on my chest, which always made me laugh! My favorite swimming memory is jumping from the rope into the deep end of the pool. I feel so proud that I can swim all four strokes so well, and my favorite stroke is the butterfly. All of my patches are in my keepsake box. I love all of the instructors at Charlotte Aquatics, especially Miss Gigi, Mr. Mike (my very first instructor), Mr. Grant and Miss Mary. The staff, instructors, and assistants always give me hugs and support and make me feel so special, especially Miss Marni, Miss Shelly, Miss Cara and Miss Stephanie. Although I have completed all of the levels, I hope to improve my skills at Charlotte Aquatics and to participate in swim team next year. Thank you for so many excellent experiences!
Parent’s Note: Charlotte Aquatics provides superior swimming instruction! It is such a warm and inviting environment for children and parents alike. At every age, they have always taken the time to learn about my children’s needs and offered excellent advice about instructors and level progression. The entire staff is consistently wonderful! Our family so appreciates their flexibility, friendliness, and professionalism. They have taught Drennan and my 2 other children invaluable skills not only about proper swimming technique but also about self-confidence, and I will always be grateful to this outstanding team!
My name is Elizabeth and I am a first grader at Lake Wylie Elementary School. I’ve been swimming at Charlotte Aquatics for about four years. My favorite teachers are Ms. Gigi and Mr. Mike. I can’t forget Ms. Debra because I started all my swim lessons with her.
I also have a couple favorite swimming memories. My favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics was swimming in my clothes. They sure felt heavy. Also, I joined my neighborhood swim team, The Crossings Crocodiles, this summer. At the swim party this week, I received the Team Croc Award. This award was voted on by the other swimmers on the team. The award was based on being a good teammate (helpful to others), high level of team spirit at the meets, dedicated to working hard at practices, and having a positive attitude. Some of best friends are swimmers and that makes it fun. Swimming has changed my life by making me a stronger swimmer. Also, I’ve learned to be a safe swimmer. I’m becoming an even better swimmer by joining the Elite Fish class. I really enjoy swimming every week at Charlotte Aquatics. My favorite strokes are the butterfly and freestyle. Outside of swimming, I enjoy martial arts, playing outside, reading, and playing in my playroom at home. I also enjoy visiting with family and friends.
Parent’s Note: We are so proud of Elizabeth for all her hard work. She enjoyed every week. Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for teaching our daughter. We’re thankful for the quality instructors at Charlotte Aquatics. The instructors kept learning fun and her interest at a high level. We started her swimming at a very young age because this a life lesson we wanted to be a part of her every day life.
My name is Morgan, and I am a third grader at Park Road Montessori Elementary School. When I’m not swimming, I enjoy ice skating, playing computer games, and playing with my sister. I love going on vacations with my family. When we go to the pool, I love being able to swim wherever I want. My favorite is the dolphin kick. I can go really fast and my mom jokes that I really am a dolphin! I also love swinging on the rope into the pool! I am so excited to get my trophy and pass level 6!! I want to thank Coach Grant especially, for spending so much time teaching me!
Parent’s Note: We have been with Charlotte Aquatics since Morgan was in preschool! We are so proud of what an amazing swimmer Morgan has become. The staff has been wonderful, especially Grant, who has been with Morgan the most! He understood her and was able to bond with her so that she could get the most out of her lessons. Charlotte Aquatics has been amazing and we are so grateful to have such a wonderful and confident swimmer! Thank you.
