My name is Aashna, and I am a first grader at Matthews Elementary School. When I’m not swimming, I enjoy reading, dancing and playing music on my piano. I really love hanging out with my friends and family. My best swimming memories are of having lots of fun with my friends and family during the summer at waterparks and pool parties. My favorite stroke is the breast! Swimming is great exercise and is so much fun in the summertime! I like Charlotte Aquatics because I have learned all my swim strokes here and all my teachers have been so friendly and helpful. My favorite memory at Charlotte Aquatics is the day Coach Kathryn gave me my level 6 trophy.
Parent’s Note: This was a bittersweet moment watching Aashna finish the swim program at Charlotte Aquatics. This place has become a huge part of our family’s life for the last four years. We cherish all of the staff and instructors who have helped our child learn a valuable life skill, given her independence in the water, instilled confidence and self-belief in herself and reach a long-term goal. There is no price you could ever put on those lessons she will take away with her from Charlotte Aquatics. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
My name is Adelyn and I am a first grader at Fort Mill elementary. I love swimming! My favorite swim memory is showing my family how I could finally do a real dive and swim all the way to the other side of the pool. I also remember the first time I swam with my very own mermaid tail. My favorite stroke is the butterfly. When I am not swimming, I play soccer, go to acro class, play piano, and play with my sisters and friends. I like Charlotte Aquatics because they help so many people learn to swim, which is so important!
Parent’s Note: Adelyn started swim lessons 2 months shy of her 5th birthday because she was terrified of going under water. The progress she has made in just over 2 years is mind blowing. I am so appreciative to all of the teachers and staff at Charlotte Aquatics for teaching my 3 daughters such an important life skill.
My name is Amanda and I am 6 years old. I am in kindergarten at Weddington Elementary. When I am not swimming I enjoy playing soccer, taking dance classes and doing art projects. I have many great teachers but two of my favorites would be Ms Gigi and Ms Kathryn. I keep my patches and certificates on a memory board in my room, and I am so excited that I finally passed level 6 because I get a trophy now! My favorite swim stroke is is the back stroke because I am super fast.
Parent’s note: The past three years have been so much fun to watch Amanda pass each new level and gain confidence in her swimming. She has been a great big sister in the pool too and now her little brother is super excited about learning how to swim. We love Charlotte Aquatics!
Anna Claire loves swimming at Charlotte Aquatics! When she is not swimming, she is reading, playing minecraft, or playing tennis. Her favorite swimming memory is jumping in the canal at Ocean Isle Beach and swimming with her dad and Uncle Ryan. Anna Claire is saving all her patches (and her checklists) to put them together in a memory box. Her favorite stroke is the backstroke, but she loves them all. Swimming has given her confidence and taught her the importance of setting a goal and sticking with it. She loves Charlotte Aquatics because the teachers are great and she loves swinging from the rope. Her favorite memory of all was jumping in the water with her clothes on!
Parent’s Note: I can’t say enough about our wonderful experience at Charlotte Aquatics. Anna Claire started as a 6-year-old afraid to put her face in the water… Now she truly swims like a fish! Your team took her fear and gave her the confidence to turn it into her favorite sport. We cannot thank you enough for supporting her and helping her find something she loves.
My name is Aryan and I’m 9 years old. The school that I go to is Sugar Creek Elementary school and I am in 4th grade. When I’m not swimming I am doing either Kumon or playing on my iPad or reading books. My favorite stroke is the back crawl because I get to lay on my back hardly doing nothing. Also I like doing the rope diving because I get to swing on it. When I get a certificate I usually put it in my folder because it shows me that have passed those levels. I do this because I want to keep them safe. Swimming has changed my life by having something to do when I am bored, it is fun and it gives me exercise. My favorite memory is that when we went on that mini-boat and we tipped over.
Parent’s Note: It’s been wonderful one and half years for Aryan and us too. Aryan enjoys swimming at Charlotte Aquatics and he is more confident in water now than before. Thanks a lot staff and instructors at Charlotte Aquatics.
My name is Ava Leung and I am 9 years old. When I am not swimming, I like to play with my little brother, Otto, and play chess. My best swimming memory was when I swam with my friends at the community swimming pool and we did some fun with racing. I kept all of my patches and certificates in my most favorite princesses tin box as a memory of each accomplished swimming level at Charlotte Aquatics. My favorite stokes are the free style and the breaststroke because they are the most easiest strokes I have learned. Swimming has changed my life because I know exactly what to do in the water to prevent drowning and I am safe to swim in the swimming pool by myself. I like Charlotte Aquatics because I am being assessed regularly to make sure I have mastered the strokes I have been taught. I love all of the teachers who have been teaching me here at Charlotte Aquatics, especially Mr. Grant. They are the most caring and fun swimming teachers I ever had. My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is when I get my level 6 trophy from Mr. Grant – my very first swimming trophy!!
Carter is a fourth grader and Charlotte Latin School. When Carter is not taking swim lessons, he enjoys taking acting classes at Acting Out Studios, playing tennis and basketball outside with his dad and brother, Graham. Carter has been taking swimming lessons at Charlotte Aquatics since he was 2 years old. One of his best swimming memory was when he first started with his mom and could slide down the slide all by himself. All his level badges are displayed on the pegboard in his room. With each level of class Cater has learned and developed his strokes. His favorite stroke is butterfly. Whether it is in the pool or at the beach, Carter has always felt very comfortable and confident in the water. “Swimming has changed my life by making me more active. At Charlotte Aquatics, everyone (teachers and staff) are very nice and have helped me become a better swimmer.” When asked what his favorite memory was of Charlotte Aquatic, Carter giggled and said with a smile… “My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatic was when I graduated Level 5 because it was a big accomplishment and I had my picture taken.”
My name is Colton, I am 7 years old and in 2nd grade. When I’m not swimming I like to play basketball, soccer, and video games. My favorite stroke is freestyle. Swimming has allowed me to be on my neighborhood swim team for the past two summers since I could swim the length of the pool. It also lets me have fun in the pool with my friends because I’m not afraid of the water. I like how nice the teachers are at Charlotte Aquatics, and my favorite teacher is Gigi. My favorite swimming memory at Charlotte Aquatics was the mock Olympics when we got to race with our classmates.
Parent’s note: Thank you Charlotte Aquatics for truly teaching Colton to swim like a fish over the past 6 years. We started him at a young age because we believed that swimming was a very important life skill and we did not want our son afraid of the water. He loved every lesson he attended and when he was 4 years old he went through a phase of not wanting to get in the pool. During this phase the instructors were very sweet and comforting to him and eased him back into the water. Gigi will always hold a special place in our hearts for being so compassionate with our son, yet stern enough to push him when needed.
My name is David I am 10 years old and go to Endhaven Elementary. When I am not swimming I play soccer three times a week, with two days of practice. My best swimming memory was when I was having trouble with my butterfly and miss Katherine helped me better my strokes. I have all my hard-earned patches in my trophy display in my room. My favorite stroke is the front crawl. Swimming has changed my life because I have noticed that I have higher energy and stamina. My endurance has increased by a lot. For a ten year old I can keep up with a twelve-year-old. I remember when I was in the early levels I got to use the slides and Miss Sharon taught me not to be afraid. I also enjoyed private lessons. They taught me a lot. They pushed me to do harder and better. Thank you for everything.
Parent’s Note: We are proud of our son’s accomplishment all due to the staff at Charlotte Aquatics. After doing the group lessons the staff encouraged us to do the private lessons. The thirty-minute one on one is the best way to go. It not only strengthened but pushed our son to do better. Miss Katherine focused on our son’s weak points making him improve dramatically.
My name is Hudson and I am 7 years old. I am a second grader at Crowders Creek Elementary. I enjoy playing sports, my favorite is basketball, but I also like soccer and football, riding my bike, tubing on the lake, going to Carowinds with friends and playing video games. My favorite stroke is backstroke because I can swim it the fastest. I LOVE to swim and it’s a great way to get my energy out as well as fun exercise! What I like most about Charlotte Aquatics is my teacher, Ms. Wendy, she’s AWESOME! She pushes me to do my BEST, I got to race her and I won! My favorite memory is swinging on the rope like Tarzan and then cannon balling into the pool!
Parent’s Note: Charlotte Aquatics swim classes have been FINtastic for both of our boys! We highly recommend this facility and think the instructors are amazing! We are so proud of how much Hudson has learned. Thanks for such an enjoyable and rewarding experience Charlotte Aquatics!

I like Charlotte Aquatics because at the end of each lesson, if we have enough time, we can swing on the rope a couple of times. Also, sometimes we can do our favorite strokes. My coach, Mr. Grant is really nice.
Leah (7) is a first grader at Ballantyne Elementary school. While living in Atlanta, Leah started swimming when she was 3 years and she has loved every minute since. Her favorite stroke is the butterfly because it’s fun to use both arms at the same time, although she thinks she is fastest when she swims freestyle. She’s used the stroke skills learned at Charlotte Aquatics to help win races for the Ballantune Barracutas in the summer seasons, and she even won the team’s most improved swimmer award in 2014 (and one thing you might notice about Leah after she gets out of the pool is that she has some serious “goggle eyes” – she prefers her goggles to be as tight as possible!!). When not in the pool, Leah loves to play the piano and gymnastics, play with her friends, and chase around her new 4-legged friend, Kramer. Leah’s favorite thing about Charlotte Aquatics was swinging on the rope and she hopes to continue perfecting her strokes in the future.
My name is Madeline McGhee and I am six years old. I am in first grade at New Town Elementary School in Waxhaw. I like Charlotte Aquatics because I love when we do fun things, like swinging on the rope. My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics was when I was little and used to slide down the slide into the water.
Parents’ note: We love that Maddie’s favorite memory is the slide, because we remember when she was in Level 1 and would sit at the top of the slide crying “Mommy, help, I’m scared!” We enrolled her in Charlotte Aquatics because she has always loved the water, so we wanted her to know how to swim and stay safe. It has been wonderful to see Maddie’s confidence grow as she has progressed from being scared of the slide, to swimming competitively. We are looking forward to watching her little brother learn to love swimming as much as Maddie does!

My favorite memory of charlotte aquatics is when I was able to swim on my own at Level 3 and 4. I was having a hard time in these levels but Mrs. Gigi challenged me to do it. I am so excited and can’t wait to have my trophy at the end of level 6.
My name is Noah Bernardez and I am 8 years old. I am in second grade at St. Matthew Catholic School. When I am not swimming, I play basketball, chess, board games and video games with my parents. I also enjoy doing Kumon. My best swimming memory is every time I receive a swim patch and go up to the next level because I work so hard and enjoy learning. About those patches, my mom kept them in my keepsake box. Learning to swim changed my life because it made me confident and no longer afraid of the water. I really like the teachers at Charlotte Aquatics because they are all wonderful especially Ms. Deborah. My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics is when I graduated from Level 6 and received my trophy and patch. It was pretty cool! And I’m so excited to start in Elite Fish!
Parent Note: We wanted to thank you and your staff at Charlotte Aquatics, you are all wonderful. We feel that the teachers not only taught our son how to swim, but also made him enjoy and love swimming. And he is eager to learn more.

I would like to share a little experience we had recently. We went on vacation and swam with Dolphins. The dolphin tank was huge and deep but our kids were not at all scared but very confident. While swimming with the Dolphins, Me and my husband looked at each other feeling proud of what we had achieved with the help of Charlotte Aquatics.

My favorite memory of Charlotte Aquatics was being in Ms. Deborah and Ms. Jessica’s classes, because they were sweet and supportive when they taught me.
